Room # 22 – The Hideaway

Tucked away at the far end of the third floor is this wonderful nook of a room furnished with a queen size brass bed, a gas-log fireplace, and a glider rocker. The luxurious comforter and lace-trimmed sheets compliment the lace-covered windows looking out over the peaceful mountains and quaintness of our small village. Along with an occasional ruckus from the horses at the Livery across the road, you might hear the coyotes at night or the elk bugle on the nearby mountainside…or enjoy the stars at night while ensconced in a bubble bath in the big claw-footed tub in the adjoining bath.

May/June 2012: In our travels around the country, we’ve stayed in almost every imaginable kind of lodgings, from high-end hotels to tiny, shoddy motels – and we’ve enjoyed them all – but this place – your home, that you open up to strangers like us – is incomparable. The atmosphere here is relaxing & homey, and all the small touches (the books, the movies, the jigsaw puzzles, the hot tub, the snuggly Red Dog, Phoenix the dove & Sophie the dog, etc., etc., etc.) make it even more so. We hope to return soon & often. You’ve made the Allenspark Lodge a truly extraordinary place to stay!! Lisa & Dave, Wondervu, Colorado

May 2012: Exceeded all expectations. Thank you for your friendliness, conversation, shared love of horses, and those amazing breakfasts! Truly I hope to pass this way again. Catherine, Belfast, N. Ireland

September 2011: Juanita & Bill – You run a fine B&B. Very, very homey and welcoming. Totally outstanding breakfast every day! Although we were a bit out of the way compared to where others in our group were staying – it was great coming “home” at night & settling in. Best of luck in the future & take care of those mustangs of yours Bob & Diane, Lincoln, Nebraska

December 2010: I have never been in such a cozy place! This is the way life is supposed to be – we will be sure to come back and visit often to remind us of that. You have put your heart and soul into your home and it shows - around every corner there is charm and character – thank you for sharing it with us! James and Janell, Highlands Ranch, Colorado

July 2010: Just what we needed for a quick trip out of the hot city! We loved all the windows and views from this room…like being at the top of a castle! Thanks for being such gracious hosts – and the best guides on the horseback ride! We enjoyed ourselves, and everything about the lodge made it a memorable experience  Mike & Judy, Denver, Colorado

June 2010: Allenspark Lodge has been the perfect respite for our first trip to the Rockies. Bill & Juanita, you are the most welcoming and gracious hosts! Your breakfasts, enjoyed by everyone around the big table, were fabulous and got each day off to a great start – delicious! The lodge is fascinating – such an interesting structure. Our little “Hideaway” was the most delightful haven before and after our days in the mountains. And Sophie provides that “touch of home” for us (we have 18 cats who are, no doubt, missing us!) Many thanks for a wonderful stay, Tom & Morgann, Ashtabula, Ohio

March 2010: Our third anniversary celebration at the Allenspark Lodge. (Anniversary # 21), and can’t think of a better romantic get-away. Dinner at Fawn Brook is the icing on the cake. Fueled with a sumptuous breakfast, we’re off to back country ski in Wild Basin. Love how this lodge preserves what Colorado was like before the masses arrived. Thanks Bill and Juanita for caring for it so well. Hope to be back again in the coming years in early March, Rick & Kiki, Denver, Colorado

March 2010: Dear Juanita, Bill, Sophie & Phoenix What an absolute delight it has been to stay in your cozy lodge. Thank you for your hospitality including the most amazing homemade breakfast. I love the Hideaway Room – I went to sleep with the moon & stars coming through my window & woke to the sunrise over the mountains. It’s a small piece of heaven here. I know I’ll see you again. Linda, Broomfield, Colorado P.S Being a former concierge, I would definitely highly recommend the Allenspark Lodge for a true taste & experience of the Colorado Rockies.

August 2009: Your hospitality made Allenspark Lodge precisely the kind of B&B we were hoping to find, and your readiness to share your knowledge & love of the region immensely enriched our first encounter with Rocky Mt. National Park. The delicious breakfasts powered us through gorgeous hikes and provided a lovely way to get to know you and other guests. Many warm regards, Priscilla & T., Tarrytown, New York

August 2009: Bill and Juanita, It is very obvious you have found your “calling” in life, and the way you do it makes it also obvious that you truly love it. Thank you for sharing your home, your time, and talents with us. You are both gracious hosts, talented cooks, and sweet, friendly people. We enjoyed our stay and are glad we found such a quiet place to get away from our Busy lives. The atmosphere and people make it special ….as well as the many friendly creatures.  Sophie and the horses are a bonus. Hope we can come again during a different season to see & experience more here. Dave and Jeri, Omaha, Nebraska

September 2008: Bill and Juanita, This is our first trip to Colorado and the Rockies and they are truly beautiful! Your home made for a great place to stay to get a real Colorado experience. Loved the cool mountain air, the hiking, the gorgeous vistas, and the delicious breakfasts. We know nothing about horses so your stories were very interesting & entertaining to us! After ten years, you haven’t lost your touch at being wonderful hosts! Thank you! Ken and Candy, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

March 2008: Spring break vacation! A lot of firsts. First time spending spring break out-of-town. 1st time snow hiking. Wild Basin was just enough hike for us. 3 inches of powder to trudge thru. Hiked up to Copeland Falls. What a beautiful sight. Cozy fireplace @ night and warm breakfast in the morning…can’t beat that for spring break. Bill & Juanita thanks for everything. Food was great. Jaime & Paula, Arvada, Colorado
